THE PERFECT STEAK – HOW TO COOK IT

Sure, the fastest way to devour a steak is by visiting the best steakhouse in the city, ordering one and sitting with a napkin and fork and knife at the ready. However, cooking your own favorite piece of meat and savoring every morsel, knowing you made it is like the best part about it! Also, fine dining at home is much more economical than going out. And last but not the lost, you can divulge in your steak like a true carnivore without having other diners being turned off by your animalistic behavior at the table! Of course, people feel that only Michelin starred chefs can prepare the perfect piece of meat and that it next to impossible to do it yourself. You are wrong! As long as it isn’t rocket science, everything else is doable!

  1. First off, you need to get the perfect, fresh piece of meat. Going to the supermarket may seem like the best option, but a good tip that professional chefs follow is to buy your steak from a local butcher. You are guaranteed to get a “cut” above the rest – get it?!
  2. Choose a cut that has some fat in it. True, you want to go as healthy as you can, but a lean piece of steak usually ends up dryer than its marbled kind. You can go for a ribeye or other fat induced piece that will give you a juicier result.
  3. Season your steak well. Do not be afraid to rub a freshly cut clove of garlic or two along with sprigs of your favorite herb. Additional (and most essential) condiments include sea salt and ground pepper. Remember, the fresher your ingredients, the better the result.
  4. Sear your meat in some good quality fat. People usually go for olive oil and other light fats, but try frying your steak in some unsalted butter or other equivalent you feel will work and see the taste get bumped up a notch.
  5. Speaking of searing, try flash frying your steak on high heat so that the outer parts are darkened and the flavor gets a chance to get sealed. It’s obvious you are going to do both the main sides, but go one step ahead and try searing the other edges as well so that you get the perfect result.
  6. Cook your steak restaurant style. They don’t only grill or fry their meat. After searing, they may add some more herbs and then promptly pop it into the oven. This allows for the meat to cook while still staying springy and juicy in the centre and it’s just perfection all round!
