Fast dinners on a work night do not necessarily mean take out from the local burger chain or Chinese mains. Cooking up your own dishes means that you get to serve you and your loved ones nutritious, hygienic and healthy options and feel like a damn fine chef after seeing your results! You can easily add this Chicken Steak With Cheese Sauce And Sautéd Veg to your repertoire for a lazy Sunday lunch or hurried supper.

Directions

  1. With a mallet or similar instrument, flatten out the steaks till they reach around 1/2 inch thickness.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the egg, milk, salt, cinnamon, pepper, mustard and all purpose flour. Mix well.
  3. Coat the beaten steaks in this mixture and then an outer layer of breadcrumbs.
  4. Brush some oil on the grill and place steaks carefully. Cook on both sides, turning steaks as one side browns.
  5. For the vegetables, cut them into bite-size pieces and sauté them in little oil, sprinkling adequate salt and spices. Make sure that they tenderize, but still have some bite and crispness.
  6. The cheese sauce can be prepared by mixing all the ingredients together over a double boiler. Avoid direct heat as this could make the cream curdle. You can also melt the ingredients by putting it in the microwave and stirring it occasionally until every combines.
  7. Serve by placing the steak with veg and generously pouring over the sauce. Sprinkle some salt and pepper over for added flavor.
